UCR Business Represented at Trueblood Seminar

April 2, 2018

Barry Mishra, Professor of Accounting and Associate Dean for Graduate Programs, attended the Trueblood Seminars for Professors at Deloitte University in Dallas, Texas from February 14-17, 2018. Hosted and fully sponsored by the Deloitte Foundation and the American Accounting Association, the exclusive seminar is by invitation only and selects approximately 25 to 30 professors from across the U.S.A. to participate. For the first time in 15 years, UCR School of Business was represented in the seminar.

Named after Robert M. Trueblood, the Trueblood Seminars for Professors offer select faculty and Deloitte partners the opportunity to discuss and share experiences and institutional knowledge through case materials which professors ultimately can use to enhance the in-classroom experience for undergraduate and graduate students.

Professors are assigned to study and present on case studies prepared by Deloitte that address current technical and complex issues in the accounting industry. Requiring significant research and judgment, the case topics often highlight ambiguous areas of accounting and include challenging real-life scenarios that arise in professional practice.

These seminars help professors enrich the accounting curriculum to reflect the necessary skills of the future auditor. The insight and solutions gained are brought back to be implement as applied case-based learning in the classroom to fully prepare students for careers in accounting and auditing.
