We recognize the value that your military training and experience provides and how you will contribute to the diverse student body we aim to build in each MBA cohort.

What our Military students say

Maurice Kenner, MBA, Captain, US Army, USMA at West Point, ‘09

“After a very selective process, I was chosen to become the next regional commander of admissions for the United States Military Academy at West Point. I am eager to apply my knowledge in my next assignment where I will be helping to strengthen our Army by selecting the best candidates for our future military leaders. The lessons I am learn in the University of California Riverside MBA program will help me carry out innovative business practices to help our nation’s Army run more efficiently and be better stewards of taxpayers’ dollars.Taking classes spanning finance to business and management will help me become a top level officer who uses business techniques and theory to advance our nation’s men and women in uniform."

Sara Tomlinson, MBA, Army Veteran, Army Achievement Medal for Excellence

"I wanted to specialize in management, with the intention of researching management policy integration into civilian owned companies, and comparing them to that of the Armed Forces. I would like to go into management consulting or training programs for management teams. This interest of mine is a result of being exposed to different levels of management in the Army that I had to carry out without formal training. I was constantly being trained on a number of different skills necessary during a time of war. What I did not see an abundance of was training directed primarily at sharpening management skills for leaders. It has become clear to me that I love working with people. Management, as a process of using people to achieve an end desired result, is an immense tool if worked, re-fined, and re-worked constantly. These are skills greatly benefited from learning throughout my MBA program and have given me the ability to confidently pursue my next career steps."
