UCR TO CREATE BETA GAMMA SIGMA CHAPTER
The Board of Governors of Beta Gamma Sigma has approved the creation of a chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma at the University of California, Riverside. Founded in 1913, Beta Gamma Sigma in the only business honor society recognized by the AACSB International. Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is open to both undergraduate and master's students. Undergraduates in the top 10% of their class and masters students in the top 20% of their class are eligible for membership. The mission of the International Honor Society Beta Gamma Sigma is to encourage and honor academic achievement in the study of business, to foster personal and professional excellence, to advance the values of the Society, and to serve its lifelong members. Michael Moore, Chairman of AGSM's Department of Accounting and Information Systems will serve a chapter advisor at UCR. (4/27/09)

The Associate Professor of Management's Academy of Management paper, "Leaders and Followers in Industry Merger Waves" has just been announced as a Best Paper accepted by the Business Policy & Strategy (BPS) Division of the Academy of Management. AGSM's Ph.D. Program has been recommended for approval by the System-level Coordinating Committee on Graduate Affairs. Professor Tom Novak chaired the effort by committee members to create the proposal for the program. One of the reviewers of the proposal expects that "this Ph.D. program will come 'on-line' as a top 25 Ph.D. program, an outstanding accomplishment given that there are 84 accredited Marketing Ph.D. programs in the U.S." Read the letter of approval and reviews...(4/9/09)
