AGSM Students To Participate in KPMG ALPFA Case Study Competition

The UCR team, coached by Professors Michael Moore, Barry Mishra, Ted Mock, and Erik Rolland, consists of five AGSM undergraduate students, and one MBA student.


(5/21/09) The University of California, Riverside has been invited to participate in the 10th annual KPMG - Association of Latino Professionals in Finance & Accounting (ALPFA) Case Study Competition which will be held on August 9th and 10th at the ALPFA Convention in Boston.

The KPMG/ALPFA competition has become an extremely popular event that presents accounting students with the challenge of resolving real-world accounting issues in a collegial and competitive environment. It provides students with the opportunity to work with KPMG advisors, better understand the demands and rewards of the accounting profession and network with finance and accounting professionals from across the United States.

ALPFA is the leading professional association dedicated to enhancing opportunities for Latinos in the Accounting and Finance-related professions. Its mission is to be the leading Latino professional association dedicated to enhancing opportunities for CPAs and finance-related professionals and students while expanding Latino leadership in the global workforce. Membership is open to anyone who shares ALPFA's values, mission, and principles.

UCR has a team of six student members and a faculty advisor. The UCR team consists of five undergraduate students and one MBA student: Jose Hernandez, George Moreno, Erin Peach, Ismaele Perez, Jacqueline Ugalde, and Lawrence Zhang. Professor Michael Moore, along with Professors Barry Mishra, Ted Mock, and Erik Rolland, make up the team's faculty advisory team.  All student and faculty advisor travel expenses, including airfare and hotel will be paid for by KPMG. ALPFA is also providing 1-year free memberships to all students and faculty who participate in this year's competition.
