Youth Financial Literacy Initiative

On September 29th, over 240 students from nine High Schools in the region attended the Youth Financial Literacy conference. This is an annual event hosted by UCR School of Business for High School students from the region, and is made possible through the sponsorship of the Anderson Family Foundation.

The mission of the Youth Financial Literacy Initiative is to create a community-focused program that utilizes the strengths and expertise within the School of Business to educate and empower local youth within the discipline of financial literacy.

For the first session of the conference, students attended presentations about the national and regional economy at the 7th Annual Inland Empire Economic Forecast Conference.

The student then participated in three specifically designed breakout workshops for students only. The first was a discussion panel on Leadership which was highly student-driven and drew tremendous engagement from the group. That was followed by two excellent workshops on Budgeting & Finance, led by Chase Bank representatives, and “College Budgeting 101”, led by Orange County Credit Union representatives.

We sincerely thank the excellent presenters who made this event highly engaging and full of important takeaways for all the students.
