UCR recognizes staff members Julie Dubé for 20 years of service and Kathrine Frugé for 15 years of service to the University of California

On September 15, 2016, Julie Dubé and Kathrine Frugé, two members of staff in the Dean’s Office at the School of Business, were presented with awards in recognition of their many years of service to the University of California. The Chancellor’s Recognition of Service Program recognizes individuals for the commitment and contributions made to our students, the mission of the university, and the community.

A native of Riverside, California, Julie Dubé’s 20-year commitment and contributions to the University of California Riverside, can be seen across the organization. Working in various roles, she gained extensive experience in purchasing, travel, and payroll. In 1995, Ms. Dubé began her tenure at UCR as a member of the Student Commons team (now Hub). In this role, part of her duties involved serving on the committee involved with construction of the Hub building, a central go-to place for the entire UCR campus. In 2007, she transitioned to the Student Recreation Center where she held several different roles and was also involved in yet another major building project, the recently opened UCR Student Recreation Center (SRC). After seven years with the SRC, Ms. Dubé transitioned again to the UCR School of Business in Dean Wang’s office as the Payroll & Purchasing Specialist. The UCR School of Business has the largest undergraduate business program in the entire UC system, and a growing graduate program with the A. Gary Anderson Graduate School of Management. A new building complex is in the planning stages for the school, and Ms. Dubé’s experience should prove to be a valuable asset to this endeavor.

Prior to coming to UCR, Ms. Dubé worked in the publishing industry, and was an executive assistant to the General Manger/Publisher at The Press Enterprise, in Riverside. And it is important to note, that her commitment to UCR spans generations, as two of her children graduated from UCR. Her oldest daughter graduated in 2009 with a BA in Political Science. She later went on to earn her Ph.D. at the University of Missouri. She currently works as a junior-executive at Disney corporate. Ms. Dubé’s son also graduated from UC Riverside in 2015 with a BS in Computer Engineering. He is currently enrolled at UCR as a graduate student in the UCR School of Business MBA program.

Kathrine Frugé has worked for the University of California for the last 15 years. She begin in July 2001 at the University of California, San Diego, where she was Supervisor in Disbursement & Accounts Payable.  After three years in 2004, Ms. Frugé moved to the Inland Empire where she held several positions across schools and departments at UC Riverside. She worked for four years as Financial Manager for the Office of Research, and then transitioned to the Department of Entomology as the Financial Operations Manager, where she served for eight years.

Ms. Frugé joined the UCR School of Business as the Financial & Administrative Manager nearly one year ago. Due to her extensive service and experience in the UC System, she was recently selected to serve as a Subject Matter Expert for the UC Path initiative, developing the interface for UC’s new payroll system. Over the next year she will be working on this project, in addition to her role at the School of Business.  Ms. Frugé holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a minor in Economics and a Master’s in Computer Information Systems.  In addition to being a dedicated professional, she is also a dedicated mother who plays multiple roles. In her free time she enjoys transporting her two children to their various athletic and music events.

The Chancellor’s Recognition of Staff & Faculty Service Program recognizes the dedication and service of staff, faculty, and other eligible academic personnel. Each service award bears the insignia of the University of California, Riverside and is exclusive to each years of service milestone.
