Annual Human Resources Symposium

Three major organizations spoke on how Human Resources impacts and drives the success of their companies.

On, May 8th, 2015 Community of Human Resource Management or CHRM for short, held their First Annual Human Resources Symposium. This organization has shown great potential in providing the students of UCR many opportunities to be knowledgeable in the field of Human Resources Management.

This student-affiliated chapter of the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) has grown since their first initiation last year. There were HR representatives from three major organizations who spoke of their Human Resources impact and how it drives the success of their company. The goal of the symposium was to have different organizations with various approaches for Human Resources Management in their unique industries to showcase their success.

Symposium speakers from Target included Brennan Zerba, Mike Deyle, and Ashley Caldwell-Morris. They spoke about recruitment of UCR students and their passion for Target and how it drives their everyday work related to Human Resource Management. We also had Elizabeth Yim who spoke about possible recruitment of UCR students and the role of Human Resources at PepsiCo. She discussed how her work environment is faster paced and unpredictable compared to other companies. Lastly, Lora Lopez from the County of Riverside spoke about the role of HR and how UCR students can seek employment in County government.

CHRM has made their mark on this campus and is eager to inform more students of this driven organization. UCR Chapter of SHRM is headed by Co-Presidents Lauren Roman and Nancy Do and Faculty Advisor for the Chapter is Dr. Raj Singh
