Dr. Ye Li Invited to Give Keynote Presentation at Citizens University Committee Meeting

CSI MOU(February 18, 2014)

Dr. Ye Li, Assistant Professor at the UCR School of Business Administration (SoBA), has been invited to share his research on how financial decisions are affected by age with the Citizens University Committee (CUC) on March 26th. Li, along with Columbia University colleagues, Martine Baldassi, Eric J. Johnson, and Elke U. Weber, conclude in their paper, “Complementary Cognitive Capabilities: Economic Decision Making, and Aging”,  that older people are generally more adept at making financial decisions than their younger counterparts. Li’s research differentiates between fluid and crystallized intelligence, where fluid intelligence is the ability to learn and process information, and crystallized intelligence, which encapsulates accumulated knowledge and experience.

The CUC, whose objective is to assist UCR in development and community relations, meets monthly during the academic year and gives campus and community related updates during their meetings. These meetings are generally anchored by a UCR faculty or staff keynote presentation and are attended primarily by business and civic leaders. Li states, “I am very pleased to be invited to speak at the Citizens University Committee. I look forward to sharing my work and giving back to this wonderfully supportive community.”

Dr. Li’s keynote will take place on March 26th at the UCR Alumni and Visitor center at 7:30AM. A breakfast buffet will be served prior to the start of the meeting ($18 for CUC members and $22 for non-members).
