Company Commitment
Employers who take on interns from the UC Riverside A. Gary Anderson Graduate School of Management program are expected to follow some fundamental guidelines to ensure a positive experience for all parties.
- Manage the hiring process. The companies can treat this as a part-time hiring.
- Provide on-going, regular communications between supervisor and student, with clear guidelines and expectations.
- Provide no less than 120 total hours of work for the student and no less than five weeks duration. This will ensure that the student receives academic credit.
- The internship position cannot consist of more than 20% in clerical duties performed .
- Establish and provide students with organizational and technical orientation as needed.
- Plan specific responsibilities, assignments and/or project criteria and clear timelines for completion.
- Provide meaningful responsibilities that can produce tangible results and increasing challenges over time to ensure development of value added skills.
- Consider the intern an integral and contributing member of your team.
