Each new entering class of working professional students begins the EMBA program in a residential retreat that brings them together as a close-knit group. The class then takes all courses together and builds upon the bonds formed at the beginning through graduation.

A special pre-program refresher session helps students get up to speed on the academic skills they need to succeed. During the program several tutorial review sessions are scheduled for those who may need help with quantitative courses.

Classes meet on alternate Fridays/Saturdays with residency hotel and meals included. Weekend classes and residentials are held at the new Palm Desert UCR facilities.

All students participate in residential courses, one of which is the international trip especially designed to expose students to current "Global Strategy" and other economic topics.

The guest speaker series brings invited CEOs and leaders to class and provides students with opportunities to hear from the best minds in modern businesses. Elective courses are added in the 2nd year to address current trends in business.

The final residential is an experience focusing on individual professional development planning strategies.

  • 22 Months is the length of the accelerated EMBA degree program at UC Riverside.
  • AACSB accreditation means that AGSM's MBA programs have been reviewed and meet the highest level of curriculum and faculty accountability by AACSB - the premier international accreditor of top tier management schools.
  • AGSM is the highly rated A. Gary Anderson Graduate School of Management. We are especially known for outstanding faculty in Supply Chain Management, Web Commerce, Empirical Finance, Audit & Assurance, and Behavioral Decision Research. Check us out at agsm.ucr.edu.
  • Alternate Weekend Classes is when the full learning community meets in alternating Friday/Saturday blocks. This means students attend class only 5 times per quarter to complete the program. Costs of overnight hotel and meals are included in EMBA program fees.
  • Change Agents are experienced managers who are unafraid to challenge and improve organizational performance.
  • Cohort Program describes an intimate learning community that stays together for the entire program through graduation.
  • Elective Courses are in addition to required classes and occur in the 2nd year. The faculty selects special topics to keep the program fresh and aligned with current global economic developments.
  • EMBA means Executive MBA. The AGSM EMBA is a full graduate management degree. What makes the EMBA unique is the convenient format, the value added high level of student services, and the greater experience level of the learning community members.
  • Ethical Leadership is the brand promise that drives the AGSM mission. Our mission is based upon the core values of Investment, Integrity, Momentum, Bias for Results, Collaboration, and Community.
  • Full Service Program Design makes it convenient for busy working professionals who often need additional support for work life balance. Services include textbooks and case ordering, course registration, residential reservations, tutorial sessions, and other student support.
  • Guest Speakers Series brings successful leaders from a broad range of industries to come to class and talk about their industry, their company, and how they grew their career.
  • Innovation, Growth, Entrepreneurship is the connection between AGSM and the emerging economy of Inland Southern California.
  • Integration is how the course content and themes are connected so students understand how different course topics work together on the job.
  • International Residential is an overseas trip for the group to experience current global economic issues and culture, and to connect with international business leaders.
  • Professors for the EMBA are selected from top AGSM and visiting faculty known for teaching, relevant research, and industry experience.
  • Relevance and Theory are fully integrated into the EMBA curriculum. It is understood that senior professionals can not build a career on simplistic cookbook recipes for success - they need a solid grounding in the reasons behind the decisions they make at work every day.
  • Relationships are the glue that cements the success of the EMBA program. Relationships with fellow students and with professors are important but the sustaining relationships with spouses or significant others and with work colleagues are key elements of EMBA program success.
  • Residential Class is a course taught in a concentrated period over an extended weekend or longer. Residential classes occur throughout the program including the international residential trip. Costs of hotel and meals are included in program fees.
  • Study Teams are how students are organized in working groups so they can share their talents on class assignments, papers, projects, presentations, reading assignments, and exam preparation.
  • UC Riverside is one of the 10 campuses of the University of California - recognized as the premier public university system in the world. UC Riverside is one of only six UC campuses with a world class management school. The others are UC Berkeley, UCLA, UC San Diego, UCI, and UC Davis.
