Education Abroad Program
The Education Abroad Program (EAP)
Those interested in studying business in an international environment may consider participating in our Education Abroad Program (EAP). The EAP is an excellent opportunity to learn more about another country and its culture while taking courses which earn credit toward graduation. In addition to year-long programs, a wide range of other options are available. While participating in the EAP, students are still eligible for financial assistance. Students are advised to plan study abroad well in advance so as to ensure that the courses taken fit with their overall program. For futher details see the University of California's EAP Web site at www.eap.ucop.edu or contact UCR's International Services Center at (951) 827-4113.
Students have the opportunity to study in one of the following countries:

Business on EAP
Through EAP, you can increase your understanding of the global economy by directly experiencing how other nations conduct business. At the same time, you can investigate how local differences in culture, politics, and financial systems impact international business and trade. These opportunities can be especially valuable if your UC campus does not have an undergraduate business program. Ultimately, the knowledge, skills, and cross-cultural perspectives you gain on EAP will help you succeed in an increasingly diverse and fast-paced world in which Isaac Asimov notes "the only constant is change."
Program Options
Business courses are available at many of EAP's partner universities worldwide. You can choose from a wide variety of short-term and year-long programs taught in English or in a foreign language.
- Observe the distinguishing characteristics of a foreign stock market
- Examine differences in corporate culture and leadership between Japanese and American firms
- Analyze real-life business issues through a problem-based learning methodology in the Netherlands
- Study nonprofit administration in Chile through an internship
- Explore tourism and hotel management strategies in Thailand
- Learn about business-to-business marketing in the UK
- Collaborate with Chinese students on research projects and presentations in Shanghai
- Investigate how enterprises in Italy are impacted by European economic policy
In addition, EAP offers special-focus programs designed specifically for business and economics majors in China, Italy, and the Netherlands.

Important Facts from your Advisor
- We can not use EAP articulations that are more than 2 years old.
- There is no list that guarantees comparability of current EAP courses offered.
- It is more important for the student to be advised about what type of course to look for before they find themselves overseas trying to decide among the courses actually available to them.
Facts about EAP Courses
- All EAP courses are transferable, including grades and units
- NO EAP course is guaranteed to be COMPARABLE to a UCR requirement until the syllabus in English is articulated by faculty upon the student's return from an actual EAP experience
