Why AGSM?

Positioned for Growth in a Changing World

We live in an amazing and ever-changing world. At the A. Gary Anderson Graduate School of Management, we take advantage of the remarkable Inland Southern California region that we call home to help provide our students with a diverse education to excel in the business world of tomorrow.

As a part of the University of California, Riverside School of Business Administration (SoBA), we are one of just 470 U.S. business schools that have been accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). SoBA was named a “Best Business School” by Princeton Review and our university was named on the top 10 up and coming universities by US News & World Report.

“Leading Thinkers
Leading Growth”

It’s more than a catchy slogan. It captures the mission of the School of Business Administration and the Anderson Graduate School of Management — to produce leaders whose ability to think about the challenges they face will provide them with skills to lead growth in both our region and the world.

Our Home: A “Living Laboratory”

The faculty at the School of Business Administration at UC Riverside will often speak of the benefits of conducting their research and classes in the “living laboratory” that is Inland Southern California. But what do they mean by that?

UCR is in one of the fastest-growing and changing regions in the world. We are at the hub of the rapidly growing Pacific Rim markets in South America and Asia and near to some of the largest distribution hubs in the world. Growth industries such as biotechnology, nanotechnology, information technology, communications, health care and pharmaceuticals innovate and flourish in our neighborhood. This business environment is our “living laboratory,” an eco-system where our students and faculty can perform cutting-edge research and see how and why business works.

Decision Making: Learning How and Why We Make Choices

Behavioral Decision Research (BDR) is a passion for many of our faculty scholars. The field draws on psychology and economics to provide a realistic description of how people make decisions. Our Behavioral Decision Laboratory, established in 2009, provides a platform for continued research and teaching related to this subject.

E-Commerce Research: Leaders in a Fledgling Field

The UCR Sloan Center for Internet Retailing is the world's leading university research center for e-commerce marketing. The e-commerce field is still in its youth and the dynamics of the field seem to be ever changing. The center's 13 faculty experts and 11 faculty affiliates conduct original research into customers' online behavior and investigate some of the most pressing challenges facing internet retailers today.

Supply Chain Management: Getting What You Need, Where You Need It

Supply chain management is predicted to be one of the fastest-growing consulting industries, and AGSM’s teaching approach integrates new concepts and methods with technology to place us among the few leading business schools in the country to distinguish itself in this field.

Empirical Finance: Learning How Money Matters

The analysis, application and interpretation of financial data, empirical finance is a timeless discipline that is critical to all aspects of finance. AGSM’s proximity to Los Angeles provides faculty and students with access to major financial firms and leaders in commerce and finance.
